AIME (Alliance to Improve Midwifery Education) is a consortium of leading global organisations working together to strengthen SRMNAH worldwide. Through enhanced midwifery education, we can ensure midwives are able to meet their full capacity and deliver the impact of midwifery care, reducing maternal, newborn, and stillbirth deaths and providing up to 90% of SRMNAH care. Quality midwifery education is essential to preparing midwives to provide high-quality care.
Midwives and their educators need substantial resources and investment. AIME works to align global midwifery education and training strategies. This is achieved through advocacy, evidence generation, capacity building and research development which can enhance and accelerate the progress of midwifery education globally. Since its inception in 2021, AIME has been bringing together leading organisations, collaborating globally, and connecting midwives, midwife educators, and policymakers to share resources and evidence to maximise reach and impact.
The founding AIME membership consists of UN partners, leading NGOs, and educational institutes working to improve midwifery education. Eight founding members and permanent members of the steering group are:
UNFPA, ICM, WHO, Laerdal Global Health, UNICEF, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), Burnet Institute and Jhpiego.
